Following the ranking published by the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) on thursday, 6th April 2017, Brazil has once again clinched the best football country in the world after lossing this title for almost seven years. The ranking moved Argentina downward.

Football pundits are of the view that Brazil's world cup qualifying wins over Uruguay and Paraguay actually helped to push the country to the top of FIFA ranking since 2010 world cup with 1,661 points in thursday's ranking.

Recall that Brazil was the first country to qualify for the 2018 world cup tonarment and her rival, Argentina has been struggling and lost out in the last game in Bolivia with 1,603 points which earned the country 2nd position in the recent ranking.

Based on the ranking, world champions (Germany) remains third on the list as Chile stays 4th, while Columbia climbed two into 5th with France maintaining 6th position.

The ranking also put Belgium on 7th position while Portugal and Spain stay 8th and 10th on the list with Switzerland rising from 11th to 9th position.

The continuous absent of African countries on the top list of FIFA ranking is a matter of concern to African football enthusiasts. It is believed that the continent has what it takes to attain global reckoning in the world of soccer if necessary investments and dedication are given to sports development by relevant authorities.
