Michael Keane would return to Manchester United ‘a better player’, says former United defender Gary Pallister.
The 24-year-old centre-half made five senior appearances for United before being sold to Burnley in 2015, making a loan move permanent.
The Red Devils have been heavily connected with a big-money move to bring in Keane back to Old Trafford as the ex-Leicester loanee has gone on to become an England international.
“It’s easy to say is it an expensive mistake to have let them go,” the ex-United defender told the Daily Mirror.
“When you’re told you are going to leave United it can be hard to bounce back. But he’s gone away and improved himself, becoming an England international.
“If the next step is to come back, he already knows the place and will return a better player.”
United have made it known that they have nothing against bringing back ex-players as they broke the world-record transfer fee for Paul Pogba last summer.
